1/24 Scale Imai 1 Skyline 2000 GT-R 1972

.

If you hadn't noticed I am a big fan of old school Nissan Skylines.  I got this model off of Ebay and commenced to build it.  This is the first Imai model kit that I have ever built so before I got started I went looked through the parts and the instructions, I thought this was another one of those kits that you can add a motor to it and make it go.  While looking at the instructions I found that there were several different ways the car could be built.  So I started the build-up.  The rear suspension could be built to support an electric motor or for display only.  If you build the model to be powered the car will set at normal height.  I went the latter route and built the rear for display.  You talk about sweet.  No modifications were required to lower or camber the rear wheels the way they did back then.

The kit came with a setup that will let you set the camber to whatever angle you want for the look that you want.  Now for the front, it worked almost like the rear with the exception of cambering.  None available so if you want it cambered you have to modify the front yourself.  I did no modifications to the front and I thought it looked fine with the cambered rear wheels.  The front is lowered quite a bit using the kit parts.  I have not decided as to what color I am going to paint the exterior of this sweet ride.  I think I am going to go with a bright white for the outside.  I cutoff the molded in muffler and replaced the muffler with a Fujimi Border Muffler.  The interior will be black as the stock car.

Aftermarket Parts Used:

  • Fujimi Border Type muffler - 11065
